Captain Grey says... "Back down West for more Hoover bashing from my native Nottingham. Tram was done on the last Notts-Panny, circus line to Padd for a total bowl out in the shape of Duff 477 on the down beds. This had to be done to get into West of England railrover land. I had my very first girlfriend in tow for this jaunt so had to do semi-normal stuff in between moves. A look around Penzance and swim and beach moves for the most part of the day meant having to suffer a tram to Liskeard to pick up the Padd-Newquay which turned up with a steam heat peak. This was done anyway to get to 50012 which was required for the Newquay line. Apart from Benbow on the branch, the most interesting part of the day was the move afterwards. A bail at Liskeard for a unit to St Germans for two days at the Elephant Fayre hippy festival to see The Cure headline that night and finish with 'The Hills Are Alive With The Sound Of Music'! I distinctly remember seeing a pair of Hoovers on the Sunday night on the 1840 SuO Penzance - Padd accelerate over the viaduct in twilight shortly before seeing the final evenings concert and wishing I could have been omnipresent at that moment. Both this train and the 2135 Penzance - Padd sleepers had been issued special stop orders at St Germans in relation to the festival. I stayed on and made my escape on the Monday morning with 50008 on the 0700 Exeter - Penzance. 47477 LONDON PADDINGTON PENZANCE 0005 PAD-PZ SLEEPERS 1B02 324.25 45020 LISKEARD NEWQUAY 0947 PAD-NEWQUAY 37.75 50012 NEWQUAY LISKEARD 1740 NEWQUAY-PLYM 2C86 37.75" Trevor Machell logged the following...
