Newcastle to Kings Cross then across  to Waterloo for 50026 on 1V14, 1410 (SuO) Waterloo to Exeter St. Davids for  an HST from Exeter St. David's to Dawlish (believed to be the 1600   Paddington to Plymouth), where I had rented a holiday flat for the week as a  base in the West of England (which made the next 2 days moves a bit of a  mystery!).  Monday 30th April 1984  Up early for 50016 on 1O06, 0648 Newton Abbot to Waterloo from Dawlish to  Exeter St. Davids then 45127 on 1E30, 0653 Plymouth to York (vice HST) from  Exeter St. Davids to Birmingham New Street. I took 86320 on 1M88, 0625 Poole  to Liverpool Lime Street from Birmingham New Street to Crewe for 87003 from  Crewe to Carlisle on 1S59, 0935 Euston to Inverness. I then worked my way to  London on 86206 from Carlisle to Preston on 1V18, 1320 Glasgow Central to  Paddington for 86219 on 1K32, 1525 Barrow in Furness to Crewe from Preston  to Crewe then 87025 on 1A69, 1725 Liverpool Lime Street to Euston from Crewe  to Euston. I boarded 1S07, 2100 Euston to Fort William/ Inverness, worked by  85036 to Mossend Yard.  Tuesday 1st May 1984  At Mossend Yard, 47517 was attached for the journey northwards to Inverness.  I left 1S07 at Stirling and took 47595 on 1T04, 2350 Inverness to Glasgow  Queen Street from Stirling to Glasgow. As a fill-in move, I took 47709 from  Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh on 2O01, 0620 Glasgow Queen Street to  Edinburgh Waverley and back on 1O06, 0730 Edinburgh Waverley to Glasgow  Queen Street. I walked to Glasgow Central for the Up Royal Scot, 1M05, 0910  Glasgow Central to Euston, surprisingly worked by 85022! I took 85022 from  Glasgow Central to Preston and it didn't lose much more than 10 mins  throughout the journey, then a DMU from Preston to Liverpool Lime Street. I  took 86205 on 1V76 (?) 1320 Liverpool Lime Street to Plymouth right through  to Exeter St. Davids (86205 to Birmingham New Street then 50023 forward from  Birmingham New Street), for a DMU from Exeter St. Davids to Dawlish.  Wednesday 2nd May 1984  Same move as Monday, 1O06 0648 Newton Abbot to Waterloo from Dawlish to  Exeter St. Davids behind 50027 for 45135 on 1E30, 0653 Plymouth to York from  Exeter St. Davids to Bristol TM. At Bristol I took 47427 on 1C??, 0920  Bristol TM to Paddington throughout then an HST from Paddington to Swansea  (1100 from Paddington?). I travelled back from Swansea to Cardiff Central  behind 33028 on 2C09, 1505 Swansea to Cardiff Central (for some reason my  notes said Manchester Piccadilly and had no headcode but this is the only  train I can find), then onto Bristol TM behind 33025 with 2O61, 1710 Cardiff  Central to Portsmouth Harbour. I joined 1V76, 1320 Liverpool Lime Street to  Plymouth (50006) from Bristol TM to Exeter St. Davids then the obligatory  unit to Dawlish>  Thursday 3rd May 1984  A later start this morning, DMU from Dawlish to Exeter St. Davids for an HST  from Exeter St. Davids to Reading (0700 Plymouth to Paddington). At Reading  I took 50003 to Paddington on 1A79, 0918 Didcot to Paddington and a quick  HST back to Reading (1030 Paddington to Bristol TM) for 47441 on 1A15, 0935  Cardiff Central to Paddington back from Reading to Paddington. I then took  50042 from Paddington to Didcot Parkway on 1A34 1215 Paddington to Oxford, a  mistake as it turned out as my back working from Oxford didn't actually stop  there, so a hasty move to Reading by HST, for 50030 on 1A45 1315 Oxford to  Paddington, from Reading to Paddington. Underground from Paddington to  Waterloo for 50004 on 1V15, 1510 Waterloo to Exeter St. Davids as far as  Basingstoke for 47497 from Basingstoke to Reading on 1M23, 1440 Poole to  Liverpool Lime Street and 50025 from Reading to Paddington on 1A07, 1625  Oxford to Paddington. I then took an HST from Paddington to Exeter St.  Davids (though to be the 1745 Paddington to Penzance) for 50050 on 1V17,  1738 Waterloo to Plymouth from Exeter St. Davids to Dawlish.  Friday 4th May 1984  A different move to start the day, 50038 on 2B08, 0700 Exeter St. Davids to  Penzance from Dawlish to Penzance then 50008 back from Penzance on 2B23,  1155 Penzance to Plymouth. I then took an HST from Plymouth to Exeter St.  Davids for a DMU from Exeter St. Davids to Paignton. I got 33045 from  Paignton to Exeter St. Davids on 1C74, 1845 Paignton to Cardiff Central for  a late HST from Exeter St. Davids to Paddington.  Saturday 5th May 1984  Quite a simple move today, 50007 on the Down Night Riviera, 1B02 0005  Paddington to Penzance from Paddington to Bristol TM for 50026 back to  Paddington on the Up Night Riviera, 1A07, 2145 Penzance to Paddington then  across to Kings Cross for an Early HST to Newcastle (0730 ex-Kings Cross).
