The Roarers.
Remaining members of Classes 82-84 were withdrawn from main line service early in the 1980's, at a time when I think it is fair to
say the Roarers were largely being ignored by most enthusiasts, and therefore information on their workings appearing on this
site (as elsewhere) is limited at present. Classes 81 & 85, however, survived much longer into the early 90's and had slowly built
up something of a cult following during the 80's.

On these pages are to be found details of a selection of passenger workings by the AC Electric locomotives of Classes 81-85,
(generally referred to as the Roarers,) throughout the length of West coast main line between London Euston - Glasgow Central
and all points under the wires in between, plus a few wanderings elsewhere.

When short of time, some Roarer workings have been added to Diary pages , but now this gen will be transferred here when time allows.

Apart from a few workings from the late 70's and early 90's to be found below, all of the Roarer workings from the 1980's have now
become separate listings pages, found from Links below...
