Manchester - Bank holiday Monday 31st May 1982.
Most of the specials in connection with this event
were formed of multiple unit stock, but in order to
free up these units, the 30 minute frequency
Manchester Victoria - Blackpool North service
was turned over to loco haulage. Class 40's
featured heavily on these turns and so
followers
of these locos had a particulaly memorable day!

pinned to services.
