Most of the specials in connection with this event
were formed of multiple unit stock, but in order to
free up these units, the 30 minute frequency
Manchester Victoria - Blackpool North service
was turned over to loco haulage.  Class 40's
featured heavily on these  turns and so  followers
of these locos had a particulaly memorable day!
