difficult and time consuming to add to our system... While some
progress has been made in this direction, there is still more to do...
The first proper update for a few weeks, and 1,300+ workings have been added to various Diary Pages :
January , February & March 1986 are all updated at last.
Also updated : Info Required , Links Page & Where Were You : 3rd August 1968 .

Not much info coming in of
late, so I've decided it's about time I tackled some of the backlog of
really awkward files that have built up...
Some of these files are going to take many hours of work before I can
add the gen to the system and there won't be time left to update the
pages...

Another time consuming update (lots of behind the scenes work again)...
By 1985, with more locos than ever before now fitted with an ETS supply and more still to come, the use on the
day to day passenger services of none ETS fitted machines was becoming noticeably rarer than in the then, still recent, past.
More and more often, you had to seek out those often elusive Additional services for your daily NB fix, and even then,
the curse of the oft dreaded orange box could still strike...

This week: still working on a full and accurate database of the regular hauled passenger turns from 1985.
(To be used to auto fill missing headcodes in Timewarp data & and to auto weed out inaccurate entries within our data.)

The first turn linked to above features many appearances
by pairs of Class 20's as one would expect. For a time it looked
as if this would be the last year that would feature regular
weekday hauled turns to Skegness but thankfully this would prove not to
be the case.
For more details with regard regular booked hauled
turns to Skegness during the period covered by this site and links to
listings of working were they exist please follow this link .
The second turn above is typical of many hauled turns of the mid 1980s.
For although booked for ETS fitted locos, this turn could still be
relied upon to produce a fair few NB locos during the summer months
too. There are still many gaps in this listing for a
service which ran six days a week... can you help fill in the blanks?

Over the last few weeks I've been spending loads of time on the
databases leaving little time left for updating the actual pages!

As promised last week, we've gone right back to the beginning... 1700+ new workings added! Complete NEW year 1975 added to the Diary pages .

Spent so much time
editing and importing a mass of gen new from 1988, much of which we've
had on file for some time (because we knew it would be awkward
and difficult to process), which
as left not enough time to update any pages... 30 plus hours
spent on the site this week and nothing to show for it..

This weeks update may not seem like much, but once again there is more going on behind the scenes...
Where Were You page for 12th July 1980 now covers the whole weekend 11th -14th July 1980 .
Additional info for a couple of the Questions WITH Answers and you could always take another look at the Info Required page.
SITE NEWS : One of the reasons many behind delays to info we've received
appearing online is that we often have to add many missing headcodes or
check those provided.
It should be possible to automate this process, but it is not as straight forward to carry out as it could be.
First, we need to 'Normalise' all the new data that we receive... well
the good news is that we finally have a process in place to do just that.
With data 'Normalised', in order to automatically fill in missing
headcodes we need a database filled with acurate service details
for each year covered by the site.
At the moment, we are working on a database of 1988 services, as this is year
for which we have a large mass of new gen, but mostly it's minus headcodes...
