This page lists the Derby - Llandudno service from 1991.
The bulk of the observations were made in and around the
Stoke area or from the trains with the service viewed in at least one
direction and usual both each day that it ran, with additional
anecdotal reports from friends and railway employees - for which many
thanks, all details were recorded at the time and are now faithfully
reported here...

thing.

were held back at Crewe to form a dmu service to Derby. The unit to
work this train had
failed en route to Crewe (I don't know where) and would have been the
last train to make conncections
for the
east of England at Derby. So the loco-hauled train was retimed." Rob Callaghan.
